Professional Review

Factorio is a game about building factories and all the auxiliary facilities they need. It requires both economic and logistical approach, so, if you download Factorio, you’ll check your skill in both domains.

Factorio Concept 5/5

It’s neither the first nor the last factory-building simulator, but this time it’s all serious. The game is the type Sid Meyer introduced, leading you from intact forest up to industrial district with factories, roads, mines, transport networks, solar power plants, and even military facilities. Logistics side is reported to be perfect, and probably that attracts the most.

It all reminds Avatar, and you are the head of corporation mining unobtanium. You start from scratch, with no infrastructure around, and build it all. The locals, The Biters, don’t like your plans, but there’s no Jake Sully, and you’re here to stay in spite of constant attacks. Anything goes for defense; how about conveyor belts both as factory devices and as weapons? Along with solo mode, there is multiplayer. Joining forces with other players takes the game to a new level, offering collaboration and communication.

Though the game is still offered as “early access”, it’s said to be quite stable. Over 100000 copies have been sold, with no mass complaints.

Visuals Effects 5/5

It’s a pseudo-3D strategy like those popular in the 1990s and early 2000s, with some Minecraft influence. You see the building sites from the bird’s eye, and everything is detailed and clear.

But the full Factorio Review, frankly speaking, would take much longer, as the developers provide official modding support. That is, anyone with skills and fantasy can remake the game, making it look totally another way.

Audio Effects 5/5

The industrial soundtrack is just what it takes to complete the immersion. It offers 75 minutes of music you can download as an album on Steam. All the game sounds are just what the game requires to make the complete impression of a huge factory hitting, squeaking, rattling and clanging.

Controls 5/5

Though it offers a lot of keys to learn, and the keyboard is necessary, you can rely on your mouse most of the time, except for walking that requires WASD. It provides a slower response than playing your key shortcuts like a piano, but still, it’s great to have this option. There have been some issues with assigning keys, but they are all fixed by now. Gamepad support isn’t there, but this type of game is better with K&M.

Replay Value 5/5

Factorio may seem a bit overpriced, but its complexity and balance provide many, many hours of gameplay even before you master all the nuances. Definitely worth both your money and time, Factorio will entertain you for long, if you like this sort of logistical strategy. And don’t forget about online playing, unpredictable and always up for upgrades!

Summary

Factorio is one of the best economic strategies, with military and crafting elements to dilute a bot the tense, thick gameplay. The factory you can build really impresses with its size and power, and it grows if you do it in collaboration. And yes, planning it all ahead is possible.

Conclusion

So, if you need an intellectual game that will make you plan and calculate, download Factorio and consider its price the best investment for your entertainment.
