Professional Review

American Truck Simulator is a truck sim game available for PC. As a well-seasoned trucker, your mission here is to deliver valuable cargo to various destinations. Avoiding accidents, emergencies, and other cataclysms. Download American Truck Simulator if those big machines make your heart roar in ecstasy!

Graphics 4.5/5

Although somewhat imperfect with its fps, American Truck Simulator game offers decent visual fidelity. The surrounding world — be it a busy highway or an ocean view — retain realism and plausibility.

The decorations feel quite alive: the sea water has its own movement rhythm. When it rains — the blurry fogginess will nicely wrap around your windshield, making driving harder. Once you make it to California — sunlit desert will make your freshly washed track shine, like a glossy toy.

Trucks feel very tactile. Depending on the particular model and upgrades you can afford at the moment, your trucking experience will change. And of course, the landscape will take its toll as well: some roads have bumps on their surface. Additional praise goes for bringing the authentic American vibe: burger dineries, divorce lawyer ads, softly glowing gas stations, etc.

Gameplay 4.5/5

Our American Truck Simulator review guarantees: it's a highly convincing trucking sim game. Your objective is to deliver some cargo — fireworks, fuel, concrete, etc. The real challenge appears when you sit behind the virtual wheel — driving it feels almost like piloting an airplane.

There are only two trucks you can try: Kenworth T680 and Peterbilt 579. The car collection seems meager. And the same goes to the number of locations: there are only Nevada and California on the menu until you unlock more areas by buying DLCs. But still, it'll take you some time to fully master and upgrade these two machines.

You can play as a "freelance" trucker, earning money for buying your own truck and later upgrading it. In the garage, you may purchase a new transmission + a retarder, a torque, a more powerful engine, etc. The more XP you earn — the more dangerous and pricey cargo gets unlocked. Eventually, you may start a company with a whole truck fleet to command.

Controls 5/5

Trucks feel bulky and clumsy in the beginning until you get used to them. Keyboard + mouse duo do a nice job on controlling your machine. But nothing ever beats the analog wheel controller and pedals — they are a must-have.

Replay Value 4/5

ATS is marvelous for chilling and relaxing. It conveys a beautiful feeling of solitude as you drive through a calm night in Nevada and only a tumbleweed or a random jetfighter disturb the silence. Only for that meditative part, the game is worth being replayed. But its content needs to be expanded.

Conclusion

American Truck Driver price for a full package is $40. Pricey, but it's worth it just for a beautiful and detailed recreation of the US states. At the same time, the game feels a bit stale: it's had little changes in its GUI and other elements since the ETS times.

Conclusion

Download American Truck Simulator if you feel that it's time to hit the dusty old road. Picturesque landscapes and believable mechanics will be nice companions!
