Professional Review

Trailmakers is a construction and racing game at the same time. Here you're supposed to collect various details to architect a racing cart of your dream and then partake in a dizzily fast race, amidst a beautiful, extraterrestrial landscape. Download Trailmakers if you have a thirst for supersonic speed!

Graphics 4.5/5

Trailmakers specs are humble: only 8 GB RAM and 5 GB of disk space. In return, you get to explore a picturesque world. It has deserts, sand dunes, ramps, loops, and rivers/ocean. It feels interactive and thanks to the good physics, you will be able to pull all sorts of crazy stunts, while driving.

Cruising your cart is easy while you're on the smooth road. But there's one thing: wheel handling becomes more challenging, depending on what type of landscape you're dealing with. E.g., roads with rocks scattered all over them garner a higher risk of a deadly accident.

Gameplay 4.5/5

You land in a space capsule on the surface of an alien world, which is your giant sandbox. And right from the start, you must construct your first, basic cart. You will need it to explore the planet and collect energy cores, screws, cosmetic parts represented as a floating mustache.

They serve as building elements for upgrading your cart and making it more powerful. However, these goodies aren't always easy to obtain — first you'll need to solve a puzzle to get to a certain power-up. For instance: how would you get your cart through a narrow creak in the wall?

As you progress and pile up more extra details and unlock more upgrades, you'll be able to construct basically anything. For example, helicopter, an "amphibian" cart, a reconstruction of Bumble Bee from Transformers or a copy of Anakin Skywalker's Podracer from The Phantom Menace. The biggest flaw is that the co-op is limited to 4 players locally — it's the early access Trailmakers demo after all.

Controls 5/5

Out Trailmakers review gives a 139% guarantee that this simulator has canonical racing game controls. Only to exit vehicle, you need to press F, instead of the classic E. As for the rest, Trailmakers gameplay mostly relies on the good old WASD combination.

Replay Value 4.5/5

So far Trailmakers full game is quite good. The unlimited fantasy you can invest in building a monster vehicle capable of racing, flying, going underwater, etc. amazingly pay off. Plus fighting off neutral enemies, racing with your friends, doing stunts and exploring the lonely, meditative desert landscape feels very nice.

Conclusion

Trailmakers entitles you unprecedented freedom at constructing vehicles. It has many interesting and brain-twisting puzzles, believable physics and a vast world to explore in the free-roam mode. At the same time, the title wouldn't lose if it had a full-blown Trailmakers game online co-op.

Conclusion

Download Trailmakers if you enjoy not only stormily fast racing, but also creativity and thorough calculating, planning and puzzle solving!
