Professional Review

The Isle is a game for PC, in which you assume the role of one of many prehistoric reptiles. Although as of now there's nothing much to do, apart from exploring the picturesque open world, the game seems to be quite promising for every dinosaur fan. Download The Isle to walk your pet dino!

Graphics 3.5/5

The Isle system requirements are pretty solid: it needs up to 16 GB RAM. But in return, you get to play with amazingly designed dinosaur models. They look almost like illustrations from an encyclopedia or Jurassic Park puppets that have become alive.

Every dinosaur has its individuality, weight, agility, speed, and ability to jump. The sounds create a nice atmosphere of a primordial biome, where you're supposed to rule the reign of terror as a big predator or be artful at camouflaging and hiding as a small one. Sadly, the game has to deal with invisible walls, passive vegetation, imperfect foliage faders, etc.

Gameplay 2.5/5

Currently, The Isle gameplay doesn't have much up its sleeve. Which is disappointing considering The Isle size: 25 GB. The central activity you can do is simple roaming and bumping into AI-guided dino boys or other players — the game needs online to run.

What is impressive, is its dinosaur repertoire. Available and upcoming monster reptiles include Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, the magnificent T-Rex, etc. Apart from just exploring the primeval landscapes, you can also customize your prehistoric pet. It is possible through a collection of skins and sprays available in the game. The authors regularly issue updates and patches for the simulator. But The Isle review warns you that it often encounters server crashes.

Controls 4/5

The game has the elementary PC mechanics, which involve WASD + LM/RM combination. But you should keep in mind that every dinosaur requires a unique controlling style. E.g., T-Rex makes the game feel like a truck simulator a bit.

Replay Value 2.5/5

Despite awesome dino models and a pretty sizable sandbox world, it feels more like The Isle demo, than a full legit game. Perhaps those, who are interested in paleontology or just meditative long walks in colossal free-roam areas will find this title appealing. Other than that it has little to offer. You need to wait to The Isle full game release.

Conclusion

The Isle price is $6.50, but it is just an early access title so far. Currently, there isn't anything to do at all, except for perpetual free-roam, which becomes repetitive pretty often. But the game has a huge potential, once the developers add storyline, missions, NPC Interaction, and graphics that feel more alive. But if you're a dinosaur maniac, you have a good reason to get The Isle pre-order.

Conclusion

Download The Isle to learn the ways of the ancient reptiles and unlock them all!

Pros : Considerable dinosaur roster;
Vast in-game world;
Attractive landscapes;
Regular patches;
Upcoming pteranodon in next The Isle update.

Cons : Zero gameplay;
Noninteractable NPCs;
Static surroundings.
